To travel is to embark on adventures that ignite a sense of wonder and encourage us to experience the world differently.
On Arrernte Country in Central Australia we experienced bush medicine infused into a unique Aboriginal body care range known as Yaye [Arrernte Language pronounced Yah-Yah ~ Big Sister].
It was a beautiful discovery, especially as Kaz loves working with Australian bush flower essences and essential oils. Every step on the Larapinta Trail revealed a unique native flower, shrub or herb. Every step was an invitation to go a little deeper in our awareness of the relationship between the native flora, the environment which sustains life, the guardians of the land, and the ancient wisdom that exists deep within each plant essence.
The Standley Chasm is a trailhead and information point of the Larapinta Trail, a popular thru hiking track across the West McDonnell Ranges, it was here we were introduced to Yaye.
We loved the luxurious feel of the products, the scent and the inclusion of beautiful bush botanicals so much we reached out to Yaye's founder, Melissa, to learn a little more about the brand and her story. Melissa is a Warumungu and Luritja woman from Central Australia and created the range to celebrate cultural knowledge and to showcase ancient wisdom. Melissa's passion is contagious, deeply rooted in purpose. She has big dreams that we have no doubt she will achieve!
Melissa grew up in Alice Springs and through many years working in education she had the opportunity to collaborate with and learn from many incredible women. Regarding these women as her sisters she proudly named her business Yaye in honour of these women.
Each Yaye product range features extracts from a different native Australian plant. These native Australian plants have been used for thousands of years as bush medicines. The Dreaming Range for example is infused with White Cypress Pine [Irlweke pronounced ~ ee look] which has the ability to enhance collagen production and is packed with antioxidant, anti-ageing and skin toning properties.
Our intention is to always enrich lives with products that have a positive impact. As we discover unique ethical and sustainable solutions we can't help but share the good stuff with you!
